How can I resolve my bad breath and excessive gas?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 21-year-old male, and I have been experiencing extremely bad breathe and stomach gases past two years, and diarrhea is often.

I visited many specialists, but my problem remains unsolved. I feel ashamed many times at public places due to bad breath. I had a stool test done, and it showed the presence of fat globules. Currently, I am taking medications for depression and anxiety. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

First, the bad breath is caused by oral hygiene issues. I would suggest you maintain oral hygiene, and you can do that by brushing your teeth at least twice a day (morning and before bed) or brushing your teeth after having a meal (lunch, dinner). Use a tongue cleaner and mouth freshener whenever possible. Chewing gums are also a good option when you do not get time to brush your teeth after meals.

Secondly, the stomach gases you mentioned are associated with food habits. I suggest:

1) Avoid the food items that lead to acidity.

2) Avoid oily food.

3) Eat healthy food like green leafy vegetables more.

4) Antacid medications like Pantocid (Pantoprazole), take it with your doctor's advice for a specific duration only.

5) Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

These things can help improve your condition. I hope you get well soon.

Feel free to contact me for any further queries in the future.
