Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My 1-year-old son has a rash. It started where his diaper was and began to appear between his legs, in his arms, neck, back, and stomach. He had the vaccine for chickenpox, so I think it is measles. I need help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query. I have seen the attached photographs also (the attachment was removed to protect the patient's identity). I understand your concern. As per the details, it seems that your baby has a condition called atopic dermatitis. It is characterized by generalized dryness of the skin associated with itching. Such kids have recurrent rashes on the skin, especially involving cheeks, diaper areas, and body folds. Most often, a history of recurrent colds and coughs or asthma in the family is found. It is more of a clinical diagnosis.
As such, no investigation is required. In atopic, I advise my patients to apply lots of moisturizers, mainly containing squalene, Vitamin E, and Aloe Vera as the main component over the whole body, preferably after a bath. On the affected area, mild potency steroid like Hydrocortisone cream helps. Antihistamines like Cetirizine are also given for the control of allergies. You should visit your doctor so that he can examine your baby clinically and provide you with a prescription. You can share my opinion with him. I hope it helps.
Take care.
