What is the treatment for a baby with rashes and itching all over the body?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My baby has developed rashes all over his body, maximum over neck and back. He is itching badly. Please help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

There are many possible causes of rashes in infants, including viral infections, allergic reactions, and skin irritants. In the meantime, try the following steps to help soothe your baby's itching. Keep your baby cool and comfortable by dressing them in lightweight, breathable clothing. Use a cool compress to help ease the itching. You can soak a washcloth in cool water and apply it to the affected area for a few minutes. Avoid using harsh soaps or detergents on your baby's skin. Use a mild, fragrance-free soap and rinse thoroughly. Apply a moisturizer to the affected areas to help soothe the skin. Choose a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer specifically designed for infants. Keep your baby's nails short to prevent them from scratching and causing further irritation.

I hope this information will help.

Thanks.
