What could be the reason for cold, cough, and fever in a 7-month-old baby?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My baby is 7 months old and weighs around 17.64 to 18.74 lbs. She is suffering from a cold, cough, and fever of 101.9 degrees Fahrenheit. She has been on the tablet Paracetamol.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. But with the limited information provided on cold, cough, and fever, it seems to be a viral infection. As you have not mentioned any other problem, I assume your baby is active, feeding well, and not having any difficulty breathing. So I suggest you to follow a few instructions mentioned below.

  1. Take syrup Claritin (Micronized Loratadine) 2 ml by mouth once daily for three days.
  2. Normal saline nasal drops, two drops in each nostril every four hours for three days.
  3. Tylenol drops (100 mg/1 ml) as needed.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take medications with their consent.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
