Do home remedy mixtures cause nose bleeding in asthma?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 19-year-old male. I have had a history of asthma attacks since my childhood. Recently, I found that when mixed, toothpaste, apple cider vinegar, and ginger make the nose smaller. So I started to try this experiment three days ago. Today, when I woke up, I felt like mucus was coming from my nose. So I wiped it using a handkerchief. I was shocked to see blood with clots. I was panicked and restless. Are toothpaste, apple cider vinegar, and ginger responsible for the bleeding, and is it dangerous?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

Firstly, I would like to request that you not rely on the internet information, as most of it is false. If you need medical-related help, you need to get to a doctor. You have a history of asthma, and I suggest you stay away from home remedies.

The mixture that you have used is dangerous. Your nose, eyes, and ears are delicate, and they need a particular medication for each of these organs. Using anything other than those medications, especially home remedies of any sort, is absolutely dangerous.

You need to consult a nearby physician and get your nose examined by the doctor to check for any visible complications. Do not try this again.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
