How to get rid of arm pain due to vaccination?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am suffering from severe constant pain in my left arm due to the vaccination injections. I am not able to sleep or move my arm. I even took a painkiller and tried the heat packs but nothing has helped. I took vaccinations for Japanese encephalitis and MenB Bexsero. What to do?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

Is there any localized swelling, redness, or something suggestive of pus collection? There are two possibilities, this may be just vaccine-induced muscle soreness and the other is a possibility of localized infection or abscess.

Instead of Tylenol (Paracetamol), I suggest you take a tablet of Ibuprofen (painkiller) 400 mg (0.014 ounces) whenever needed up to three times a day along with some antacids like a tablet of Pantoprazole 40 mg (0.0014 ounces) before breakfast once daily. If it does not respond in a day or two or you developed an abscess or fever, then you should visit a doctor and start antibiotic therapy. Also, apply some ice to the arm.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this helps you.

Thanks and regards.
