Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 20-year-old female. I was diagnosed with aplastic anemia about two months ago in a bone marrow biopsy. I felt something was wrong because I used to feel very tired quickly, my legs hurt, my heartbeats were irregular, and I would also get dizzy. So I went to a hematologist and got diagnosed, but still, they have not decided on the treatment for me. I want to know whether my case is severe or not and what are the appropriate treatments for me. My last blood test showed that my RBC was 2.3, hemoglobin 6.9, WBC 1.99, and platelets 21 lakhs. My platelet count had reached 19 lakhs at the lowest and 27 lakhs at the highest during this period of sickness. I do not take any medications at the moment, and the cause of my condition is unknown. I have done all the tests to figure out the cause and they were all negative. Will I need a bone marrow transplant, if not what is the treatment?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
You are having moderate aplastic anemia. The underlying cause should be identified first. If no specific cause is found, then it can be considered idiopathic. I can suggest a few treatment options:
So you should discuss this with your hematologist about the management plan.
I hope this has helped you.
Thank you.
