What are the treatment options for antral gastritis?

Hi doctor,

I am a 40-year-old male. I had an endoscopy of the stomach for upper abdominal pain. I got the report of antral gastritis and a small submucosal nodule in the antrum.

I have attached a photo. Are antacids (like Omeprazole) and Bifidobacteria capsules good enough to treat this completely?

Please help.

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I experienced mild to medium, intermittent sharp pain during the daytime, mostly after eating. The stools look normal, and there is slight weight loss. Pain is in the upper part of the abdomen in between both the ribs.

Yes, antral gastritis can cause such pain. It looks like you have associated irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). My recommendations for you would be the same medications that you have been prescribed.

However, I would prefer capsule Mebeverine 200 mg twice daily in such a case for a few weeks. Avoid spicy and oily foods. Walk after all meals. I am also keen to know if you have been checked for H.pylori (Helicobacter pylori) infection post-endoscopy or if any biopsy was taken from the nodule.
