Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 47-year-old female. My weight is 209 pounds. My symptoms are blood in the stools and stomach bloating. Initially, we suspected piles. But the doctor said it may be colon or rectal cancer. Colonoscopy, blood tests and a CT scan were done, and I have attached the reports for your reference. I would like to know the actual problem. How serious is it?
Kindly help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
This is quite serious. I would like to wait for biopsy results, but looks like anorectal cancer. But, luckily it is well within a curative stage. You can have either direct surgery or chemotherapy followed by surgery. Chance of recurrence of the tumor is relatively low in chemotherapy followed by surgery. In surgery, most of the time we can avoid permanent stoma. In your case, the requirement depends upon the clinical examination. Surgery is quite safe and curative, so you should go ahead.
I hope this information helps you.
Feel free to ask further queries.
Thank you.
