This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I sprained my ankle around five months back. The pain never really went away completely. Then in the last few weeks, it has slowly become more painful. Is there a reason for this, and what can I do?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You mentioned pain around your ankle region, which was injured five months back. Although there is no reason to have pain around the same ankle, there could have been some joint injuries, etc., which can cause late symptoms. Also, sometimes it is the ankle instability itself that causes pain and swelling, especially if the ankle injury itself has not healed up properly. The treatment for such conditions is intensive physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications as required, and other supportive medications. If you can, send me the following:

  1. MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) ankle images and report.
  2. The clinical picture of your affected ankle.

Then I can have a look and let you know what needs to be done. Kindly revert for any further queries.

Thank you.
