Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Last week, I was bitten by a red ant. Within 5 minutes, I collapsed and was immediately rushed to the hospital. My BP was low at 80/60 mmHg. It was detected as anaphylaxis. I hereby attach the treatment sheet for your reference. Six months ago, my 2-year-old son expired due to an unknown insect bite. We did not know about anaphylaxis at that time. What type of treatment should I get further for anaphylaxis?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com. Based on the information provided, it seems that you may have hereditary angioedema or a severe allergy to red ants. I strongly recommend consulting an allergy specialist who can conduct patch testing and specialized blood testing to identify other potential allergens that could cause life-threatening reactions. In the meantime, you need to obtain an EpiPen, which contains Epinephrine, as a rescue measure.
Make sure to keep it with you at all times. In the event of an allergic reaction, administer the EpiPen to yourself and your children to potentially save lives. I offer my deepest condolences for your loss. The allergy specialist may be able to develop antisera, which can be administered slowly over a few weeks to help combat the allergy.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
