This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 20 year old female and ever since last night, I have been experiencing sharp shooting pains in my lower abdomen and my rectum. It hurts to walk, sit, cough and even lay down. I had the shakes when I first had the pain last night. I tried to poop last night but it hurt too bad. I finally managed to poop this morning. Please help in any way you can.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It appears you have a fissure.

First thing is, your stool should be soft. For that, you should eat a high-fiber diet like fruits (apple, banana, oranges), green leafy vegetables (like spinach), and raw cucumber.

Avoid smoking, refined food, fatty and oily food.

You should have plenty of fluids and regular exercises. also syrup like lactulose 15-30 ml bedtime to maintain your stool soft. You need to visit a nearby doctor for examination and confirming the diagnosis.

Secondly, you can use 2 % Lidocaine gel before each stool so as relieve pain. Also, apply Nitroglycerin ointment three times a day.

Also, sitz bath will be helpful, during a sitz bath, the anus is immersed in warm water for approximately 10 to 15 minutes two to three times daily. Sitz bath kits are available in most drugstores which contains potassium permanganate.

Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
