Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have a problem with amenorrhea. I am a 37-year-old. I have been married for about seven years now. I did a hormone profile yesterday which I can even send. Please help.
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Amenorrhea is the absence of menstrual periods for a prolonged period. At the age of 37, it is considered secondary amenorrhea, which refers to the lack of periods for at least 12 months in women who have previously had regular periods. Based on your description, your amenorrhea may be related to weight issues. Being overweight can disrupt hormonal balance and affect ovulation and menstruation. Other factors that may contribute to amenorrhea include stress, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disorders, and certain medications. To determine the underlying cause of your amenorrhea, it is recommended to consult with a gynecologist for a thorough evaluation. They can perform a physical examination, review your medical history, and order appropriate testing, such as blood tests to measure hormone levels or ultrasound scans to assess ovarian function. Based on the results, they can provide personalized treatment options, such as lifestyle modifications, medication, or surgical interventions, to address the underlying cause of your amenorrhea and promote fertility. In the meantime, it is important to maintain a healthy weight through a balanced diet and regular exercise. You may also want to consider stress-reduction techniques, such as meditation or yoga, to manage any underlying stress-related issues that may be contributing to your amenorrhea.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks.
