What could cause a multiloculated cyst in the right adnexa and kidney stone in a patient?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello,

I have been having pain in my abdomen, and the ultrasound revealed a 0.44 cm stone in my left kidney. I was advised to drink plenty of water and was prescribed medication for one month. My ultrasound result revealed right adnexa and posterior multiloculated enhancing cyst. What does this mean?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. You have left-sided pain. For cysts, no size is mentioned. If an ovarian cyst is less than 5 cm and asymptomatic, it should resolve itself. But symptomatic cysts need evaluation and monitoring. So I suggest you to have a transvaginal scan for cysts. A usual follicular cyst is the least likely to have the risk of cancer. In case of severe right-sided abdominal pain, you should consult a specialist about a suspected torsion cyst.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
