What is the treatment for chronic acne?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from acne all over my face, and I would have tried all the anti-acne products in the market to get rid of my acne but, I do not see any improvement. Whenever I go out, my self-esteem is very low.

Kindly suggest a better treatment.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Acne Vulgaris is a common skin problem in adolescents and adults. It involves pilosebaceous follicles or oil glands and is therefore seen to involve areas where oil glands are dense, like the face, chest, back, and upper arms, which is the common site of involvement.

In your case, it looks like acne in grades 1 to 2. I suggest you follow the instructions.

  1. Apply Faceclin gel (Clindamycin, Nicotinamide) during day time over pimples for two to three months.
  2. Apply Microbenz (Benzoyl Peroxide) 3.5 % gel at night over the whole face for around two to three months.
  3. Take a capsule of Doxycycline 100 mg once daily for one month.
  4. Wash your face twice daily.
  5. Avoid oily, spicy food, junk food, milk products, and non-vegetarian foods.
  6. Consume lots of water, which hydrates your skin.
  7. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take the medication with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
