I have brown spots and scars on my face. What is the reason?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a couple of brown spots on my face. I also have some scars on my face. Kindly help me to get rid of them. I use to have a clear face and I got acne a couple of months back. I do not have any pimples on my face and I think that I have milia on my left and right cheeks. I have three bumps and it hurts me a lot. My skin has become oily. Kindly suggest some remedy.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the attached image (attachment removed to protect patient identity). I can see dark spots and scars on your face. It occurs as a result of acne. For oily skin, you need to use a regular face wash twice daily with a mild cleanser. In between the daytime, you can wash your face with simple cold water. Apply sunscreen having a sun protection factor of more than 30 in the morning. Scars can be managed by doing subcision and chemical peeling, lasers, and dermabrasion. Milia too requires excision.
