How to get rid of acne and dry patchy surfaces on skin?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My skin is really sensitive and has patchy dryness. For the past year, I have started getting closed comedones on my jawline and cheeks. I have always used plant products, mainly from my childhood. But as acids do work on acne, I thought of trying once. I have used some products which contain Salicylic acid, ceramides, cholesterol, squalene, Phytosphingosine, and Niacinamide. When I started applying, my skin broke out even more with access bumps. So I have stopped using any products with acids in them. I have used Desonide cream, also. When I am using that cream, my pimples start reducing, but when I stop applying, my pimples start increasing. Now I have started applying aloe vera gel and cinnamon on my face, and I feel some pimples got reduced. Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I suggest you consult a specialist and use the mentioned medications with their consent. Clindamycin gel to be applied at night on pimples. Dermadew aloe lotion (Aloe Vera Gel, Liquid Paraffin, Lanolin Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Propyl Paraben, Disodium EDTA) apply on the whole face in the morning and night. Photostable gold sunscreen (Methoxycinnamate, Methylene, Tetramethylbutylphenol, Silica, Ethylhexyloxyphenol, and Methoxyphenyl triazide), apply on the whole face in the morning and reapply after every 3 hours. Use Cetaphil cleansing lotion (Aqua, Glycerine, Panthenol, and Sodium benzoate) for washing the face. I also suggest that you do not wash your face frequently and with soap. Do not rub your face with a towel, and just dab your face after washing. Do not scratch and break pimples; it will cause dark spots and scars that are difficult to treat. Drink more water and eat fruit. Avoid junk food.
