Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 29 years old and have been suffering from acne for the last 17 years. Can you please help me?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You would need oral retinoid treatment from your dermatologist for four to five months for the treatment of acne.

Have you taken any treatment previously?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Not really, just some acne cream or home remedies. Is it necessary to visit a doctor before starting the treatment?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Only cream or home remedies will not treat acne. I suggest you take Isotretinoin from a local dermatologist after getting their consent. Meanwhile, your dermatologist may start you on Azithromycin 500 mg thrice a week and repeat it the next week. So you may take 12 tablets in four weeks. This tablet is to be taken half an hour before breakfast. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and start taking the medicines with their consent.

Other suggestions for you-

1. You can use Saslic facewash (Salicylic acid) twice daily.

2. Drink plenty of water daily.

3. Avoid hair oil application.

4. Apply Nioclean (Adapalene and Clindamycin) gel to the acne area in the morning and Aziderm 20 % gel at night.

5. Apply sunscreen faceguard gel twice daily at 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM over the whole face.

6. Avoid oily food or junk food.

7. Also, reduce consumption of starchy food like potatoes and rice.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for your response.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You may consult me again after four weeks or after two weeks if you do not see much of an improvement.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am uploading pictures of my face after the treatment. I am happy with the progress in the last four weeks. Now, I do not have any new breakouts but, I need your suggestions about what should I do next.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the photographs (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity).

Improvement is good. Now you can apply Nioclean AD (Clindamycin phosphate and Adapalene) gel in place of Nioclean (Clindamycin phosphate and Nicotinamide) gel in the morning. Continue the rest of the medicines, both oral and topical ointments. You can follow up after one to two months of continuing this treatment.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have completed the treatment as you have suggested for more than three months. I am happy with the results but worried that once I will stop the treatment the acne will appear again. So, please help me, I would like to have your suggestion in this regard.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the pictures again (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity).

You can stop taking the medicines now. For preventing future outbreaks, Isotretinoin is the drug of choice. It has certain side effects, for example, it should not be taken at least six months prior to when the couple is planning to have a child. Secondly, a lipid profile should be done before taking it, especially if you are overweight. This medicine can be taken for four to six months regularly, which will give you an acne-free period of one to two years.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 32 years old male and I have been suffering from chin acne for a long time. I had gone through your suggested treatment last year which helped me a lot, but in the last few months again I am suffering from chin acne.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query. I have read your query in detail and I have seen the pictures attached (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity).

You can restart the previous treatment. You can take Azithromycin 500 mg on alternate days, that is, thrice a week and repeat it the next week. So, you will take 12 tablets in four weeks. You can use Saslic face wash (Salicylic acid) twice daily.

Drink plenty of water daily and also avoid hair oil application. Apply Nioclean (Clindamycin phosphate, Nicotinamide) gel on the acne area in the morning and Aziderm 20 % (Azelaic acid) gel at night. Apply Face Guard (Silicone sunscreen SPF 30) gel twice daily at 8 AM and 12 PM on the whole face. Avoid oily and junk food. Also, reduce consumption of starchy food like potatoes and rice.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
