How to treat acne and marks that have lasted for 3 years?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been very prone to acne and I have pimples and pimple marks almost everywhere on my face for three years, even though I use Master anti-pimple facial wash and Master anti-pimple cleanser every night, it does not seem to be the solution. I am about to use a Skinlight body care rejuvenating set and I also have a Skinmate shark oil.

  1. Is it fine to use the set with the shark oil?
  2. Can you please suggest a solution?
  3. Is it necessary for me to use a pore minimizer?
  4. Are my pimples might be caused by strong products?
  5. Do I have to buy stronger products to get rid of my pimples and pimple marks?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Pimples present on whiteheads, blackheads, and abscesses over the face. This is the spectrum of acne vulgaris, which is common at a young age. In your case, as you have reported, there are active lesions as well as active acne. This occurs due to androgen production during the young age, which leads to sebaceous gland overactivity, blockage, and inflammation.

It can be cured by drugs as well as general prevention. General prevention includes avoiding oily things on the face and on the scalp. Avoid steroid creams on the face. Diet has no much role in acne vulgaris. Some cosmetics also increase acne.

Drug treatment includes capsule Isotretinoin 20 mg OD with meals at night for four weeks. Clindamycin gel twice daily for four weeks. Salicylic acid 2% face wash is used for 30 seconds daily. If there is a lot of dryness, due to this treatment, use salicylic acid face wash only on alternate days. Take plenty of fluids.

Do not touch your face too often. This treatment may need to be continued for 3 to 4 months, depending on the response. When active acne stops coming, acne scars are treated according to their type by microsurgical methods. Please review after four weeks with a photo.

I do not advise taking any other extra tonics, oils, or any food supplements, as they can increase acne.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
