Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am 30 years old female. I have tiny red spots on the uvula. I can see a small vertical bulge behind my uvula on the pharyngeal wall. I am very concerned. What could be the bulge?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The picture is not clear (attachment removed to protect patient identity). This bulge can be enlarged adenoid. Do you have any pain in the throat or while swallowing? Do you have a fever? Do you snore while sleeping?
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
The bulge is on the back wall. It is a kind of white and flesh mixed. Before a month, I had a fever for a week without any specific reason. I was given medicine for acid reflux as the antibiotics given for the temperature were causing a reflux action. Then I have throat pain at times when I take cold substances. The day before yesterday as I was awake the whole night due to travel, again I had acid reflux and scratchy throat.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Now, I can see it better (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Acid reflux can harm the throat badly, and this mass is most probably a result of the reflux. You have to treat the reflux with proton pump inhibitors. Avoid spicy and cold meals. The mass can grow partially or entirely, obstructing airways. It can cause snoring. You can also feel multiple palpable lymph nodes under the skin in your neck. In this situation, the mass should be examined histologically to determine its nature. At this condition, you need to be worried. But, now there is nothing to get worried.
