Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have dark underarms with dark spots. I also have a slight dark patch around the neck. Please prescribe me necessary medicines. I do not have thyroid or sugar. I have PCOD, and not under treatment right now.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
From your description, I would say it is Acanthosis nigricans. Clinical photographs would have helped. Have you put on weight recently? I suggest applying Glyco-A 12% cream (Glycolic acid) at night over dark area. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take treatment with consent.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Is it the name of the cream or the composition? If it is the composition, then kindly tell me the name. I am little overweight. Is this cream safe for skin? Can I wax during this treatment?
Please guide.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Do not use any product for hair removal. You can shave along the direction of hair growth not against it. It is Glyco-A cream, and it contains Glycolic acid 12%. It is safe to use. Pigmentation will take some time to resolve. Apply at night time. You should reduce weight. With weight loss also there will be a reduction of pigmentation.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I used to shave earlier but after that skin became more dark and rough. So, I started waxing. Will it be safe if I wax? Can I use that cream on my elbow? I have attached the photos for your reference.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
You do not have classic signs of acanthosis nigricans. Anyways, do not worry. At present, there is only post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. But, to reduce pigmentation, you can use creams. Yes, you can use it over elbow also.
Thank you.
