Does Misoprostol for abortion cause dizziness and tiredness?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am an 18-year-old female. My height is 5.61 foot, and my weight is 132 pounds. I recently fell pregnant and decided to have an abortion. I was given three tablets at three weeks of pregnancy, but I do not remember the names. I swallowed two similar ones and inserted one into my vagina, but the tablets did not work. So a week later, I was given three Misoprostol tablets. I inserted all three into my vagina, but the tablets did not work either. So a week later, I was given four Misoprostol tablets. I inserted two into my vagina, and the remaining two I placed under my tongue to dissolve, but my third attempt did not work either. After my second attempt, though, I started feeling sick. I am feeling dizzy, tired, and nauseous. I did vomiting and had lower abdominal cramps of medium pain intensity for the day. I lie in bed most of the time. So my questions are:

1) Why is it not working? Was I given the wrong tablets, doses, or instructions to use them?

2) Is my ill state being caused by making three attempts at abortion in the space of three weeks, and if so, will the illness go away on its own with time, or is my condition potentially fatal, and do I need to visit a doctor?

3) I still do not want the pregnancy, so I want to make a fourth medical attempt at abortion. Is this advisable?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

1) It is important to rule out whether your abortion is completed. For this, you have to visit a doctor

2) Your symptoms of dizziness and tiredness can be due to the medication itself.

3) Medical therapy for abortion is also advised under supervision. So, do not panic. Consult a gynecologist there. You will be fine, do not worry.

Thank you.
