Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been paying more attention to my oral hygiene and wanted to get into the specifics of effective tooth brushing. I brush regularly, but I am curious about the optimal techniques and frequency. What are the key considerations for a proper tooth brushing routine, and how does it contribute to overall dental health? Additionally, I have heard contrasting views on the benefits of electric versus manual toothbrushes. Could you provide insights into the pros and cons of each, helping me make an informed choice?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

Thank you for your query.

Brushing should be done mostly in a circular motion without pressing too hard onto the teeth. Brush twice a day at least after meals, as it helps in maintaining oral hygiene, and preventing cavities and bad odor. Try to touch every surface of every tooth. The electric tooth is a better option as it always has more strokes per minute than manual resulting in better cleaning. Flossing also should be done at night to remove any stuck food particles and interdental brushes also could be used if there are many spaces between teeth for optimal cleaning.

I hope this helps. Thank you.
