Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My work requires me to stay in the sun all the time due to which I get tanned a lot. Can you please tell me what home remedy I shall use for daily purposes?

Answered by Dr. Gaurang Gupta

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. Skin tanning is the side effect of excessive sunlight exposure. Dark skin is very prone to get tan. I suggest you take the following measures:

1. Avoid direct sunlight exposure as much as you can. Wear sunglass and caps. Keep the exposed parts of the body covered all the time.

2. Use sunscreen thrice a day at 10 o'clock, 12, and 3 o'clock, all over the face.

3. Sunscreen SPF (sun-protecting factor) should be around 50.

4. Use anti-pigmentation cream over pigmented parts like Kojic acid, Hydroquinone, Depiwhite cream (Alkyl lactate and Glycerin), etc.

5. If tanning is deep and too much, then the ideal treatment is glycolic acid peels. Six to eight sittings of peels are required.

6. Never stop sunscreen even if tanning goes off.

As a home remedy, you can apply the paste of raw milk and besan (gram flour) on the face daily. Use aloe vera on your face rub daily the leaves of aloe vera on your face.

I hope this helps you.

Regards.
