Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 15-year-old female weighing 134 pounds and 5.4 foot tall. I have been feeling gassy, bloated, and needing to urinate a lot for the past two days after having unprotected sex for the first time. Could I be pregnant? Is it possible to feel symptoms so soon? Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

How are you doing? I do not think this is a feature of pregnancy, as the embryo, if at all you are pregnant, will reach the uterus only after four to six days and release the pregnancy hormones for you to get the symptoms of pregnancy. Being your first unprotected exposure, some minimal tear or abrasion inside the vagina and genitals is possible- causing lower abdominal discomfort and pain. Also, some amount of semen would have entered the bladder, causing you to have symptoms of urinary frequency, burning while passing urine, and feverish feel. Another possibility is that if your partner has some infections in their genitals that can get transmitted, this could simply be a urinary infection in him, you are sensing it as it is your first sex. So, pregnancy is not a possibility.

To relieve this, have lots of fluids- water, juices, milk, and keep passing urine frequently. It will wash away the infection, if any. Have some painkillers and antacids for a few days. It will relieve you of the discomfort. To be on the safer side, next time, use protection.

I hope I have clarified your query. Do write back if any more queries.

All the best.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
