Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Accidentally, I drank some amount of green phenyl yesterday night. I vomited many times and it has been 24 hours now. I have not consulted a doctor. Shall I have any problems in the future? I am worried.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If you have taken a small quantity of phenyl accidentally, then there is nothing to be worried. Do not induce vomiting on your own as it is not good. Phenyl is corrosive and repeated induced vomiting causes damage to the food pipe. You need to consult a doctor if you have any difficulty or pain while swallowing or inability to swallow or giddiness or sweating or breathing difficulty or persistent abdominal pain. You may require to do an endoscopy to see the inner part of the food pipe and stomach.

..

Investigations to be done

You need to do CBC (complete blood count), RFT (renal function test), LFT (liver function test) and ECG (electrocardiogram).

Probable diagnosis

You have accidental phenyl consumption.

Treatment plan

You can take tablet Rabeprazole 20 mg twice daily half an hour before taking food for a month. You can take syrup Sucralfate with Oxetacaine 10 ml one hour before food thrice daily for a month.

Preventive measures

Avoid taking hot and spicy foods. Take only cold liquid or semisolids for two to three days.

Regarding follow up

Have a follow-up with your investigations.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
