Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 14-year-old daughter has a severe hair fall. She used to have thick, shiny, beautiful hair, and after her severe hair loss, it became curly like it was when she was younger, and it is also poofy and dry. There is a huge clump of hair on her hairbrush, and a lot of hair falls when I brush her hair. Last summer, she had maximum hair fall. We also got all her blood tests done, and there are no other problems. I have tried everything, but nothing seems to work.

Kindy help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your case in detail.

It is good that you took your daughter for blood tests which are essential to check if there is hemoglobin deficiency. First, try to improve her diet and encourage her to take milk and egg protein. Secondly, try to know if she is suffering from depression or stress or if it could be an effect of bullying as well. Children of this age are very much prone to such incidents, which manifests in severe hair loss. Being a dermatologist, I have noticed it in many youngsters. Regarding treatment, I suggest she apply a mix of Betamethasone lotion and Liquid Paraffin to the scalp two times a week and leave it overnight.

I hope this helps.

Take care.
