Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My skin used to be a combination, but lately, after using a particular brand of face wash, it has become dry, tight, and itchy, with visible flakes. Could you please recommend an aloe vera-based moisturizer? I would appreciate the name of the product. Additionally, I am dealing with pimples on my face and cheeks. What can I do to reduce the appearance of scars?

Best regards.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

For your skin, I recommend using Cetaphil moisturizing lotion as it is suitable. Regarding your concern about pimples or pimple scars, it is important to differentiate between them. Creams alone will not be effective for treating scars caused by pimples. Post-acne scars can be categorized into three types: box scars, icepick scars (pinpoint scars), and rolling scars. Pinpoint scars are particularly challenging to treat, while box scars are comparatively easier to manage.

Here are some techniques you can consider for scar treatment:

  1. CO2 Fractional laser combined with subcision: This method involves five to six sessions and yields better results than other procedures.

  2. Dermaroller combined with subcision: Although less effective than CO2 Fractional laser, this method can still be considered.

  3. Fillers: Fillers provide a temporary improvement by filling the pits and creating a fuller appearance. However, the effects are not permanent.

  4. Chemical peels: If the scars are not very prominent, chemical peels can be effective.

These techniques typically require four to six sessions and take five to six months to achieve better results. Please consult a dermatologist to determine the most appropriate treatment option for your scar type.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
