Are steroid injections safe before ablation for neck pain?

Hi doctor,

I have had right-sided chronic cervical neck pain for the past six months. My MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) revealed bulging discs, C6-C7 and C5-C6 osteophytes and severe bilateral stenosis, and typical degenerative disc disease. I visited a pain doctor hoping for a cervical steroid procedure but got a cervical medial branch block, which provided relief for only one day. He wants to do a facet radiofrequency ablation in the cervical area. Would it be better to do a cervical steroid injection before the ablation? Four years before, I had the same condition and was treated with cervical steroid injections. I am currently on Lidocaine patches and Voltaren cream. Also, taking Quinine sulfate for leg cramps.

When does consciousness return after FTP contusion surgery?

Hi doctor,

My dad is 60 years old. Before 15 days, he met with an accident and was injured on the right side of the head. There was bleeding on both the ears and some cholesterol like thing was there in one ear. We have noticed that, but not sure what it was. We have admitted him in the hospital and he had a surgery for left fronto temporopariatal (FTP) contusion and acute subdural hematoma (SDH). He looks like he has eyeball movement inside, but he did not open his eyes still. What is the reason? How many days will be taken to open his eyes? When we speak something to him there is no response from him. Can we expect that he will get conscious? When we give him a pain he is moving his hand and leg, but when we touch him simply, there is no response. What would be the reason? Can we expect him back as he was earlier? He is not speaking anything. The injury was on the right side head and the operation was done on the left side. Would like to know why the operation done on the opposite side? Otherwise, he is passing the urine and motion regularly. I will also attach the scan report. Please look at that and help me on my doubts and provide me the status of him.

Can a tooth abscess cause pain in the ear, jaw and head?

Hello doctor,

I am a 23-year-old female, and I have been dealing with severe pain in my tooth. I was supposed to have it extracted a few months ago, but I never got around to it. Finally, I went to the dentist yesterday, and they suspect there is an abscess under the tooth. They prescribed antibiotics for me. However, now the pain has spread to my ear and the side of my head. I am unsure if I should see my doctor in addition to the dentist. The dentist believes it is a tooth infection, and that is why they prescribed antibiotics. The pain is affecting my tooth, jaw, ear, and the side of my head. Please help.

Which nerve disorder can result in bladder problems?

Hi doctor,

I am a 27 year old male. I am suffering from a unique neurological disorder for about 5 years. I have consulted many doctors, but there is no improvement. So, I want your suggestion in regard to this. I am explaining my problem below. Five years ago, one morning when I got up from bed, I felt numbness in my left lower limb. It continues for a few days and then my right lower limb also felt the same. Apart from that, I also started feeling difficulty in passing urine. I consulted neurologist and they performed a number of tests, but could not find out the reason. They took the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of whole spine and brain, but there was nothing. Today, after five years, the condition is that I have very difficulty in walking and also I am using a catheter for passing urine. Each time using the process of self intermittent catheterization (SIC). My life has become a burden for me. I become a fully dependent person to others. If you can help me anything in this regard and if there is any cure of this disease, please let me know. I will be always thankful to you.

How to manage high cholesterol and vitamin D deficiency?

Hi doctor,

I have just got my basic blood check done. I am worried about the report, especially the following points. Cholesterol levels, vitamin D deficiency, excess uric acid, platelet, monocytes and basophils. I would like to know whether all these symptoms together are pointing to something else. Can I get healthy without taking medicines? What should I do? In the above, does anything pointing toward kidney or liver disease or cancer? I have been smoking for the past 10 years about 10 cigarettes a day. If I stop smoking, will it help improving the above?
