Hello doctor,

I feel pressure in my head, jaws, and behind my ears, coupled with infrequent nasal discharge. I also experience the sensation that the earth is moving for a few seconds. Although there is no headache, I have had my teeth checked, and they are fine. This has been happening for a few days since I used the TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) machine below my ears. After getting my blood pressure checked, it was 155/90 mmHg, for which the doctor prescribed Lovastatin 10 mg for one month. I also underwent a complete blood analysis, and all other tests were normal except for LDL (low-density lipoprotein), which is 165 mg/dL. Additionally, I also take a tablet of Thyroxine 75 mg.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.

You mentioned that your symptoms began after using the TENS machine. What was the reason for using the TENS machine? Additionally, high blood pressure (BP) could cause episodes of dizziness and the feeling of pressure in your head. Are you currently taking medication for your BP? You are also taking Lovastatin tablets for high cholesterol. It is advisable to consult with the doctor who recommended the TENS machine to determine if it could be the cause of your current symptoms. Given your high BP, it is recommended to initiate antihypertensive medication. Please visit your treating doctor to discuss and start antihypertensives.

I hope your queries are resolved, and any further queries are welcome.

Thank you.

Hello doctor,

I consulted the heart specialist, and when he checked my BP was 125/78 mmHg. He did several other tests which were normal. He had prescribed a medicine for vertigo. I have a strong feeling it is due to ear clogging since when I close my nostrils and blow, I am unable to open my ears.

Please suggest.

Thanks so much!

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and understand your concern.

You have not replied to the reason for the TENS (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, a device that produces mild electric current to stimulate the nerves for therapeutic purposes) machine application. Anyways, the BP (blood pressure) recorded last time was 125/78 mmHg, which is normal. If you have ear clogging, there might be some ear discomfort or other ear-related symptoms. Do you have any of these? Usually, ear clogging happens either in the ear itself or in the posterior pharynx. Which anti-vertigo medication was started?

Please reply to the above questions, so that I can guide you better.

Thank you.
