Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 19-year-old boy and I attempted sexual activity for the first time last night. However, I encountered difficulty as my penis did not erect during the sexual activity. As a result, I experienced orgasms without an erect penis, leading me to quit the plan for sexual activity. I did eventually experience an erection in the morning, but it occurred later than desired. Therefore, I am seeking guidance on which medicine I should take to achieve an immediate erection. Kindly help in resolving my issues immediately.

Hello,

Thank you for stopping by at icliniq.com.

I am here to provide expert opinions on your medical issues. Based on the information you provided, it is possible that you may be experiencing erectile dysfunction (ED). There are several reasons that can cause this condition, such as:

  1. Stress from work, family, or night duties: It is advisable to do regular exercise and yoga to relieve stress.
  2. Depression or anxiety: First-time sexual experiences may cause such issues. Usually, after the second or third encounter, these concerns might resolve on their own.
  3. Varicocele (scrotum vein enlargement).
  4. Fear of failure: Experiencing ED one time may cause anxiety and lead to fear of ED again.
  5. Low self-esteem.
  6. Homosexuality or religious factors
  7. Smoking and alcohol consumption
  8. Long-term illnesses: Conditions like cardiac disease, thyroid disease, kidney disease, or any other condition requiring long-term medication may contribute to ED.
  9. Negative attitude towards your partner
  10. Hormonal issues: Thyroid problems or low testosterone levels can affect erectile function.
  11. Long-term drug usage: Certain medications can induce ED as a side effect.
  12. Diabetes and hypertension: These conditions are known to affect sexual health.

Also, I suggest you undergo tests such as Doppler penis, ultrasonography of pelvis and scrotum, blood pressure, RBS (random blood sugar), TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), and testosterone. I suggest you share the results of the above tests as they will help in determining the appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan.

In addition, it is important to do regular exercise and a healthy diet. Some exercises that may be beneficial include Kegel exercises, glute bridge, lying leg raise, plank, push-ups, reclined butterfly pose, squats, hip flexor lunge, swimming, running or fast walking for five minutes, and yoga. I also suggest you include strawberries, apples, avocados, sweet potatoes, sesame seeds, almonds, garlic, and a small amount of chocolate in your diet. For a temporary solution, I suggest you take a tablet of Tadalafil (Phosphodiesterase inhibitor) 5 mg twice a day. I suggest you consult a specialist, talk with them, and take the medications with their consent. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
